100+ Women's Summer Olympic Sport EventsA group of women recently came to the Cimarron location for a group coaching lesson. Those attending included Laura Spivey, Jeffiner Fornuff, Ruth Ann Francis, and Leigh Batten. They are working their way through participating in all 100+ women’s Summer Olympic sport events. They wanted to get some coaching so they can complete their team table tennis event. Leigh Batten describes how they all got started and what they have accomplished so far:

"Early last year, Jeffiner came across a blog of two British women who were attempting to compete in all the women’s summer Olympic events. She was inspired by it and wanted to embark on a similar project. She sent an email to all of her female friends and a total of 6 of us decided to give it a go. We started with singles table tennis in February 2014 and have now completed approximately 80 of the 111 events, including swimming, track cycling, boxing, wrestling, judo, taekwondo, field hockey, among many others. Our goal is to simply participate in every event in some way – not to
become experts or to compete, but just to try a lot of new things. We all hope to find one or two things that we love that we could continue with after we’re done with our journey. We’ve taken a few pauses over the months due to busy lives, injuries and even for Jeffiner to have her first child! Our loose goal is to finish all the events by our trip to Rio next August for the 2016 Summer Olympic Games! We believe our most difficult events to complete will be the sailing events, as they are very specific boats that are used. Even if we can locate the boats, finding someone willing to help us learn them will be a challenge! We’ve managed so far with the help of wonderful people like you and plan to keep going until we can complete all the events."
